When KTM launched the RC8 in 2009, it was an instant hit and gave a hard time to its direct competitor the Ducati 1098. As the time passed the KTM superbike attained new levels of achievements everywhere. The RC8 is powered by an 1195cc 75-degree V-twin which produces 175bhp and has a top speed in excess of 320kmph. RC8 features a twin plug ignition that fires the two differently sized spark plugs in each cylinder head independently of each other in such a way that more efficient combustion and a smoother, optimally controlled combustion sequence is achieved at all times. The result; even more controllable power, lower fuel consumption and less emission.

The trellis frame in the RC8R uses top of the line WP suspension and steering damper which aids to the overall handling of the bike and make it a deadly track tool and at the same time it increases the daily use comfort of the bike. Stopping the bike are Brembo Monoblock four-piston, radially-mounted calipers squeezing two 320mm Disc up front, and a two-piston fixed caliper with 220mm disc on the rear.
The large display on the bike feels like the display of a fighter jet with all the lights and gimmickry, the 2012 model also features a gear indicator in both the street and race mode, the superbike also has instant and average fuel economy display which is updated every three seconds.
The KTM RC8R is to come via CBU route in India and will be price at around 17lakh rupees for the basic model. KTM though has not announced the official launch dates, but the bike should be here anywhere between the last quarter of 2013. Expect the bike to give a hard time to all the superbikes existing in the Indian market.
