At the Greater Noida Auto Expo in 2014, Datsun did confirm that it will be launching a new compact hatchback based on the 'Redi-Go' concept previewed during the show. The car will be positioned below the existing 'Go' hatchback, and will be pegged against the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Tata Nano Active.

The car will be based on the Nissan's V platform on which the current generation Nissan Micra and Datsun Go sits upon. The 'Redi-Go' will share most of the components with the Renault's upcoming XBA hatchback, including the three-cylinder 800cc petrol engine. The engine is speculated to be a downsized version of the 1.2 liter three-cylinder petrol engine in Go and Micra.

Going by the concept model previewed at the Auto Expo 2014, the Redi-Go's design is expected to be more radical and youthful as compared to the simplistic Go hatchback. The Redi-Go will be dimensionally smaller than the Go, but is expected to have class-leading interior space and dynamics as compared to its rivals like the Alto 800.

As per the norms of Datsun, which is billed as a budget brand, the interiors of the 'Redi-Go' are expected to be a 'no-frills' layout.

Though Datsun may equip the 'Redi-Go' with thoughtful features like the mobile docking station on the center console, dash-mounted gear and handbrake lever and combined front seats. The 'Redi-Go' is supposed to have all the factors of practicality which a prospective owner of a budget hatchback looks in a car.
