Jaguar's latest design and technical innovation XE Sport Sloon has been in the international news for quite some time now. Recently launched in the UK at a price tag of GBP 26,990 (INR 26.05 lakh), there are rumors that the British marque could showcase this Sports Saloon in the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo.  The XE has been developed based on JLR's new modular vehicle architecture, and thus features a long wheelbase and low seating position that enables perfect proportions and a streamlined, coupe-like profile.

Following the design cues of the  XF,  XJ, F-Type, E-Type and also the Mark II, the XE's front end features a massive black chrome mesh grille complete with the leaping cat and sporty front bumper with wide air intakes.  It shares some of its integral design features with its older cousin XF that include the sculpted bonnet with strong ‘power bulge’, the narrow headlights and ‘J-blade’ running lights, the rising waistline and long, graceful curve on the roof.

Its tail lamps have been inspired by Jaguar’s F-type and the E-type, while the rounded window of the rear door carries suggestions of the Jaguar Mark 2. Additionally the new modular vehicle architecture gives it a long 2,835mm wheelbase and low seating position that enables perfect proportions and a streamlined profile. Based on different trim levels, the new XE offers specially designed alloy wheels with an option of 17-inch, 18-inch, 19-inch and 20-inch wheels and an average drag coefficient of an impressive 0.26.

Inside, the cabin offers outstanding levels of comfort and spaciousness. Exquisite materials and finishes combined with Jaguar craftsmanship make this a class-beating interior that’s unlike anything else in the segment. Jaguar’s new InControl infotainment system takes centre stage, while its innovative 8-inch touchscreen brings fast, intuitive access to all features and functions – and iOS and Android smartphone apps. It also come with forward facing stereo camera is mounted behind the front windscreen to give the XE a 3D view of the road ahead. This highly accurate data is used for functions including autonomous emergency braking and a lane departure warning system.

The XE has some of the most advanced driver assistance systems available. All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), developed through decades of Jaguar Land Rover experience in off-road traction systems, can electronically gain traction in seconds and is ideal for use on low-grip surfaces, such as wet roads. Laser projection technology enables the XE’s optional head-up display (HUD) to generate sharp, high-contrast colour graphics (such as vehicle speed and navigation) from a module smaller and almost a third lighter than existing systems, retaining clarity even in direct sunlight.
