                                         Mercedes Benz S-Class Coupe

Editorial Review

Mercedes-Benz is looking to launch the C217 Coupe version of the sixth generation S-Class in India on the 30th of July, 2015. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe is based on the same platform as the S-Class, but is purely a driver oriented vehicle unlike the full sized or long wheelbase models that focus on driver and rear passenger comfort equally.
"As exclusive as it gets - the ultimate in aesthetic sportiness", stresses Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Management, Sales and Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars. "The breathtaking design of the Concept S-Class Coupe marked by sporty-classic proportions and sensual purity is transferred to the series-production S-Class Coupe virtually unaltered. The large coupe has always been the supreme pinnacle of our model range and that's why it's now called the "S-Class" again.
Being based on the S-Class sedan that pioneered a number of firsts, the S-Class Coupe too comes brimmed with technological features both on the comfort and convenience front as well as on the safety parameter.
The car features the Magic Body Control suspension setting that sees the road ahead and adapts itself accordingly. In addition, rear-wheel drive Coupe models also get a new feature called Active Curve Tilting that leans the car into a corner by up to 2.5 degrees in order to counter the centrefugal force on occupants during cornering.
Mercedes will be launching the S-Class Coupe in India in two models. The S 500 Coupe and the S63 AMG Coupe. The S 500 is powered by a 4.7 litre V8 petrol engine developing 461PS of max power between 5,250 rpm and 5,500 rpm and 700Nm of torque between 1,800 rpm and 3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to the company’s 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic gearbox.
The other version will be the S63 AMG Coupe on the other hand is powered by a 5.5 litre V8 petrol engine developing 593PS of max power @ 5,500 rpm and 900Nm of peak torque between 2,250 rpm and 3,750 rpm.
Expect the S Coupe range to be priced between of Rs. 1.60 crore to Rs. 2.60 crore ex-showroom.
